Apologies for the poor image quality. This film displays video evidence of a highly unusual sighting of a large (approximately 4m) Great White Shark hunting in shallow water in Elwood, Melbourne. The shark was identified as a Great White based on dorsal fin shape and the fact that it was attacking a dolphin. These are rare visitors to Port Phillip Bay and especially unusual in the northern end of the bay. The dolphin appeared to be injured on the tail and after about 15 minutes of similar scenes to the video, neither animal resurfaced. I hope that this video does not put anyone off from enjoying the bay but instead sparks an interest and appreciation for the amazing wildlife with which we share these waters.
